   Weave
Source: Narcise
The intersection of warp and weft fibers of a fabric.

A pattern of interconnected yarns used to make textiles. Three basic weave patterns are: plain, twill, and satin.

(1) To make a fabric by interlacing threads (see Warp and Weft) or yarn. (2) The binding system of crossing, interlaced warp and weft threads, characterised by overall design and type of weaving unit (tabby, twill, satin or variations of these three).

Weave is the system of interlaced warp and weft threads in a woven textile.

Method in which one weaves the warp with the weft in a textile. Simple weaves are composed of a single warp thread and a single weft thread, among these, the most common are those in which the weft crosses the each single warp thread so as to determine a simple and regular design. Oblique and diagonal designs are characteristic of herringbone weaves. The term canvas, utilized in painting to identify one of the most common supports in modern times, in reality identifies one of the fundamental types of textile weaves, in which each warp thread alternates over and under the weft, determining a uniform, compact textile, without a front or a back.

  Warp

1. A warped material is distorted out of its original plane. Warping is often caused by humidity changes.
2. In textiles, the warp is the lengthwise thread of a woven fabric. A weft, or filling, is woven transversely over and under the warp threads.

Parallel threads, stretched lengthwise on loom, having fixed ends; through the sheet of warp threads the weft threads cross. The selvedge runs parallel to the warp threads.

In a textile, the warp is the threads that form the direction of the weaving process and run parallel to the selvages. The warp threads pass alternatively over and under the weft threads.
When a flat object warps, it distorts out of plane. This is used generally of wooden objects that deteriorate due to heat or humidity changes.
